A few months ago we looked for an Ecommerce Web Application with small footprint. For years we have been using DotNetNuke together with Catalook to achieve this for our customers, and very successfully too. However, some of our customer’s don’t need the Advanced CMS aspects’ of DNN that is very capable and we love it. All they want is a simple Ecommerce that is fast to load and it has a good SEO for every product they add. They also need it to be Multi-language aware.

We found nopCommerce and it ticked off all the necessary boxes for us. It is built on .net platform which is our expertise, It is Open Source and it has been around for a few years so all the major bugs are fixed. It is also promoted by Microsoft. And right now it is the leading ASP.NET online shop e-commerce solution.

nopCommerce needs to be installed on Windows 2003 or 2008 server and it needs to connect to a SQL Server Express or Standard Edition. nopCommerce is a secure, scalable and extendable e-commerce platform. It has user friendly administration tools to manage your storefront, customers, wish lists, discounts, and coupons. It has user friendly administration tools to manage your storefront, customers, wish lists, discounts, and coupons. It also has flexible tax support, multi-lingual support, and hundreds of other features. Support for the most popular gateways: Authorize.net, PayPal, Google Checkout, 2Checkout, and more. nopCommerce also runs in Medium Trust.

BodyBasix by salar golestanian salaroHere is our example site nopcommerce.salaro.com and since we launched the services last months on www.Salaro.com we have now 3 projects started on it. Here is the first one out of the door for BodyBisix. The project took 4 weeks from concept to full implementation.  The content placements were managed by BodyBisix. We produced 3 visuals and the necessary revisions leading to one that was approved and then we created the template and applied it for them.

The next project to go live is interesting as it combines DotNetNuke for Content Management and nopcommerce for Ecommerce. I will keep you posted on how this one goes.
