Microsoft has announced at its annual MIX developers' conference today, promising a host of major features including multitasking, background audio, push notifications and raw sensor data as well as over 1500 new APIs in in the next version of Windows Phone.
Windows Mobile 7 developers are very excited about having the Nokia hardware next year as well as some of the Windows phone goodies in the W8. It seems that 2012 is going to be a very good year for Microsoft and Nokia.
Other news is Windows Phone's 'Mango' Update Will Offer New Audio, Voice Features. This is with Bing Audio, augmented reality features, the ability to dictate texts, and audio navigation, according to a
new podcast
.
eweek.com
reports that this update will be Windows Phone version 7.5 and will include Bing Audio, which allows a smartphone to identify any songs playing in the vicinity, and Bing Vision, an augmented-reality feature that will let a smartphone scan barcodes, QR Codes and the like.
Windows Phone 7.5 will also include a turn-by-turn navigation feature, complete with voice guidance, and the ability to dictate SMS texts.
