Sony Next-Generation Portable To Include Arm Cortex Two Quad-Core Chips

The PlayStation Meeting 2011 Sony announced specs for the Next Generation Portable. The official spec sheet Sony was just posted outlining pair of powerful quad-core processors under the hood. A quad-core ARM Cortex A9 processor inside and sharing the graphics duties alongside that will be a quad-core Power VR SGX534MP4+ GPU. This is a seriously powerful engine.

An article is making its way around the net today, a letter written to Roger Ebert by an Oscar-winning editor and sound engineer, Walter Murch, decrying a fundamental flaw in 3D filmmaking that he assures us ruins the entire idea. The author David Coldeway thinks that Roger was off the mark in this assessment. And he goes on to dispel some of the information he’s spreading via Ebert’s blog.

Motorola’s First Android Tablet to Retail for 800 USD/1000 Euro

Today there has been leaked information Motorola Xoom Tablet by Verizon employee, the long-anticipated Android Honeycomb, will sell for $800 or around 1000 Euro which is similar to iPad pricing. In CES this year, press had access to play with the device.

Remember Apple Newton in 1990s - 15 million iPads sold in 3 quarters- Did you predict this number?

From the above number, Apple sold almost 15 million iPads last year or just about 90% of all tablets sold. In fact now it is outselling Macs in units, and closing in on revenues. The 7.3 million iPads sold just in the December quarter represented a 75 percent increase from the September quarter, and the $4.6 billion in revenue represented a 65 percent sequential jump. (The iPad was launched in April 2010).

Last Year, Google launched the Translate application for Android devices, able to allow translation of text for over 50 different languages, with the results delivered using the text-to-speech function of the phone. Now Google Translate brings us closer to the dream of a Star Trek-esque Universal Translator.

Nintendo's newly announced 3DS handheld promises 3D imagery without the need for goggles. At CES press had a chance to play with the device behind closed doors. Nintendo asked the press not to take pictures of the screen turned on because of the near-impossibility of accurately depicting moving 3D images with 2D still photography. The first preview of the 3D games is out today.

Nintendo warns children under six not to play console in 3D as it may harm their eyesight

Nintendo 3DS hand-held game machine which is expected to release in February in Japan, should be avoided by children less than six years old as there are health risks involved, or they need to view them in 2D mode.
